His first surprise over, Jerry saw that Bob was right. If they didn’t go through the tunnel they would probably never go anywhere. It would be more than their strength could accomplish to force the boat back through the rapids they had encountered. And even if they could reach the top of the cliffs, Jerry knew that they would die of thirst before they could make their way to civilization. “Do you mean there’s a chance for a dam?” asked Bob. “How did you meet him?” asked Bob, expecting that Jerry had found his job in some exciting way.
